Today was definitely spent in very urban areas. The two malls and parks we visited did not have nearly as much green space as the other areas I’ve visited recently. This however does not mean there wasn’t any use of vegetation. The city truly has so much vegetation that even the areas with relatively low vegetation still have a good amount of it. Outside the second mall we visited, which is the Lotte mall, right next to the Lotte world tower. Right next to it was a large park surrounding a small lake. (Pictured) Something I’ve noticed is that designers and planners here really make good use of the natural plants that are native in this area. They incorporate them into the design so well and make it an actual tool in design. The plant I’ve noticed to do this the most is kudzu. Many areas have this native plant, which grows on and crawls over walls. (The second picture is an example of this, simply on the side of a freeway)
